Early Hegari

Grain sorghum. Beautiful! Short plants reach 4-5' tall with 2-4 tillers per plant. Compact, erect panicles; 7-9" long. A small sample size in 2024 returned 4-7.5" panicles. Black glumes cover about half of each grain. Grains are large, white, and mostly starchy. ~1500-2500 grains per panicle. Moderately easy to thresh. Early maturing. Would make a delightful textural ingredient in cool-toned dried arrangements or wreaths. Donated to SSE by Anpetu Oihankesni (CO OI A). SSE Accession # 119298
