VEGETABLES / SORGHUM
Grain sorghum. Plants with 7-14 tillers and 3-6 flower stems measure 7.5-9 feet tall. Inflorescences well-exserted and measure 6-9 inches long. Ovate seeds are light brown with black glumes. Low grain amount per panicle up to 700 grains. Easy to thresh. Extremely early to flower when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. Some use this as an ornamental as it is rather attractive. Donated to SSE by Robert Lobitz (MN LO R) who obtained the variety in 2002 from George Stevens (CA ST G2). Stevens acquired it from an organic farmer in Chico, CA. SSE Accession # 119302
