Purple Hull

Highly productive, early maturing cowpea in northeast Iowa. Seeds are medium sized and cream colored with a purple eye. Seed coats tend to be wrinkled. Flavor is mild and slightly green. Texture is smooth but a bit chalky/pasty. Plants are bushy and rather compact. Pods are 5-7 inches long and turn dark purple as they mature. Commonly two pods per peduncle. 9-13 seeds per pod.
