Morden Early

Heavy, early cropper. Short and fat dark green fruit with pale green stripes. Black spines. Bumps less elevated. Superficial ribbing. Standard flavor and texture; juicy; moderately sweet; skin slightly thick. Market fruit 2.3-3.2" long and 1.6-2.3" wide. Orange-brown seed mature fruit, 2.9-4.3" long and 2.1-2.7" wide. Released in 1955 by the Morden Experimental Farm in Manitoba as a selection out of a Norwegian variety. It was developed for northern gardens primarily for pickling, but also slicing.
