Best used as a dry bean. Dry beans are dark tan, flat and wide. Vigorously climbing pole bean, reaching 10ft+ in height. Pods reach 6-7" long and are quite wide. Straight to slightly curved pods. Green pods develop a pink blush at maturity. Description provided by VEG participant Roberta Muehlhaus. Donated to SSE by Ermal Kuhns (IN KU E) who obtained this variety in 1986 from Joseph Kinnard of Pendleton, IN. Kinnard received the variety from the Raymond Mundy family of Bedford, IN. The story which has been passed down with seeds states that they were originally from the "crop of a wild goose, shot by a boy home from the Civil War." SSE Accession # 102549
