VEGETABLES / CORN
SWEET
Mid-season yellow sweet corn. Fair flavor. Quite tender and creamy but lacking flavor and sweetness. Ears 8-10" long and 1.5-2" wide. Yellow-orange kernels have a slight reddish hue when dried down. 12-16 straight rows per ear. Medium-sized kernels. Plants 6-8 feet tall with little to no tillering. Green stems. Donated to SSE by Glenn Drowns (IA DR G) who received the variety in 1988 from Jim & Cyndde De Weese (OH DE J). They in turn got the corn in 1984 from Sam Norris (WV NO S) who introduced it into the 1984 SSE Exchange. That year Norris described this corn as having been grown in the same family in Pendleton County, WV for 50 years or more. (SSE estimates since circa the 1930s.) SSE Accession # 108209
