Market mature fruit color dark purple, shape obovoid, fruit borne singly. Plants intermediate in size up to 30 inches in height. Stems green with greenish-violet petioles. Leaves green and pubescent with moderate lobing. No spines or prickles. Flowers light purple most often borne singly. Market fruit 3-5" long, 2.5-4" wide, and 3.5-12 oz. Matures to yellow brown. Seed mature fruit 7-9" long, 4-5" wide, 30-40 oz. Afflicted by bacterial wilt, low productivity, mid to late season maturing when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. Dense flesh; slightly bitter; standard flavor. A pre-1880 variety. SSE Accession # 109492
