Short and stocky green pods develop some red patches as they mature. Uniform, downy (non-prickly) pods have 6-7 ridges per fruit. Mature pods measure 5-6.5" long by 1.5-2" wide. Best eaten under 2" long. Good flavor. Plants grow 4.5-5.5' tall. Mostly red stems and petioles, with some green. Green leaves. Average pod set when grown in 2013 at Heritage Farm. No lodging. Donated to SSE by Judith Conway (TN CO J2) who introduced this variety into the 1998 SSE Yearbook Exchange. Conway received the variety from an elderly gentleman from Sherwood, TN.
