Beefsteak tomato. Flattened pink fruit measure 2-2.3 inches long, 3.25-3.5 inches wide, and weigh up to 11 ounces. All fruit with slight cat-facing. 1-2 fruit per cluster. Fruit has sever cracking. BRIX reading 4.0. Indeterminate plants have potato leaf and highly exserted styles. Mid-season maturing and average productivity when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. Above average eating qualities. Fruit described as tart and tomatoey. Donated to SSE in 1999 by Roy & Betty Saltenberger of Joplin, MO. They received the variety in 1975 from their neighbors, the Thomas'. While living in California some years earlier, the Thomas' received seeds of the variety from a friend, whose grandson sent six tomato seeds to his grandfather. The seeds came from a sandwich the grandson had eaten while stationed in Turkey with the military. SSE Accession # 126353
