Inflorescence red-purple, club shaped at tips, erect. Stem amaranthine striped; pink or red base. Blade elliptic, purple blush; pigmented veins. Petiole ranges from green to light amaranthine. No lodging. Low branching, vigorous. Plants uniform, 3.0-3.5" tall. Seed black. Seeds used in tortillas and bread in Mexico. Dorothy Schmotter of Red Wing, Minnesota donated this variety to SSE in 2003. SSE Accession # 100159
