Immature pods are green, straight, and slightly constricted. Fully expanded pods measure 6.3-7.0" long and 0.6" wide. Mature pods are yellow with a dark pink blush pattern, and are highly constricted. 6-9 seeds per pod. Seeds brown with white dusting. Low productivity when grown on Heritage Farm in 2018 under high disease pressure. Snap beans matured in late August in 2018 planting. Donated to SSE in 1981 by bean collector John Withee of Lynnfield, Massachusetts and the Wanigan Associates. John received this variety from Silas Gilliam of Virginia in the late 1970s. Silas got the beans from Liddie Bolling of Virginia, who was 75 years old in the late 1970s. Liddie stated that her family has grown the beans since she was a little girl. They were originally found by husband’s uncle, Hosie Bolling, who killed a goose in Flat Gap, Virginia and discovered 9 beans in its crop. SSE distributed this accession under Withee's variety name of 'Wild Goose #3' until renaming it in 2018 to better reflect its stewardship history. SSE Accession # 101504
