VEGETABLES / MELON
Reticulatus melon. This is a small, orange fleshed melon. It is very juicy and moderately sweet. The flesh is about 1" thick with a thin rind. This prolific little melon is yellow when ripe and heavily netted. It has a little button on the blossom end. There is slight ribbing and the ruit is slightly flattened. The fruit slips easily off the vine when ripe. The fruit measures 5" wide, 4" long, and 1.5 lbs. This very productive variety held up very well under significant disease pressure. Mid season maturing. Donated to SSE by Merlyn & Mary Ann Niedens (IL MI M). It was developed in the mid 1990's by IL NI M from a cross of Jenny Lind and a yellow fleshed heirloom.
