George Washington Tomato (Stevens' Strain)

Single Image
VEGETABLES / TOMATO
PINK-PURPLE
I obtained this variety of tomato from my husband's grandmother over 20 years ago right before she passed away. She had grown it many years as had her mother before her. This variety has been in the family for over 100 years. She told me it was George Washington but for years I called it something else because I could not find any George Washingtons. It did not have the right characteristics to be this other variety though. I've recently learned there is another George Washington although I am sure they do differ by now. This tomato is indeterminate and has very large (over one pound fruits) that are extremely meaty with very few seeds. Plants are potato leafed. Late producing tomato. Outstanding flavor. All purpose tomato, performs very well for fresh, canned or dried use. Please contact me by email before requesting to check for availability. Do not send requests to me by mail, the postal box is not checked regularly. Checks are not accepted.
