Pole/snap bean. Snap beans are slightly tough with a firm texture; subtly sweet. Pods are green, slightly curved; and round in cross-section. Strong suture string; downward curving beak. Mature pods are yellow with a red blush. Pods 4-5" long and 0.5" wide. Leaves and stems green. Flowers white. 6-8 seeds per pod. Seeds small and white. Plants not very vigorous climbers, mid-season maturity when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. Donated to SSE by Lily Cooper. Originally grown by Lily's great-great-grandparents, Frederick and Sarah (Cox) Cook, in the area which became McCormick County, South Carolina. Used by the family as a snap bean.
