Zucchini. Dark green, cylindrical fruit with light green speckles. Some fruit have a bulbous end. Prominent ridges run the length of fruit. Fruit best eaten under 9" long. Plants are large and bushy with short internodes. The stems do not elongate, so fruit are formed on top of each other. They do not produce many flowers and have low productivity. Finding fruit can be a bit of a challenge due to the thick foliage and numerous, erect stems. Seemed to resist cucumber beetle pressure during the 2021 growout at Heritage Farm. Later maturing. Donated to SSE in 2013 by John Kuhn of Fallbrook, CA. John has been growing and saving seed of this squash variety since he received 17 seeds from an acquaintance, Eldean Bratton, in 2006. Eldean is the daughter of the man after whom the variety is named, Charles B. Ledgerwood (1906-1999). Charles was a regionally famous seedsman who ran a seed company out of his home in Carlsbad, CA from 1933 to 1999. SSE Accession # 132328
