VEGETABLES / TOMATO
ORANGE-YELLOW
Organic Listing
AKA "Jaune Flammée", "Flamée", and "Flamme". Indeterminate. Regular leaf. Gorgeous, apricot-orange 4 oz. round fruit borne in elongated trusses. The skin is thick, with red streaks in the interior flesh. French heirloom that originated with Norbert Perreira of Helliner, France. Commercialized by Tomato Growers Supply Company in 1997. Excellent fruity flavor with a perfect blend of sweet and tart. Great for drying or roasting, retains deep apricot-orange color, and roasting or drying intensifies the flavor. Apricot-orange! I swear there are more colors of tomatoes than of house paint, and this one looks so rich and delicious. The name is French for "Yellow Flame", alluding to its apricot color. Easy to grow in most regions of the USA, and does better than most other heirlooms in areas with cooler nights. Prolific. 70-80 days from transplant. Along with Brandywine and Mortgage Lifter, this is kinda one of those tomatoes you *have* to try if you want to call yourself an experienced tomato grower, so you can have an informed opinion. And who knows, you might fall in love with it too... and if you save some seeds, you'll never need to buy them again! Woo hoo!
