Speckled Purple Hull

A compact, bushy cowpea. Seeds are tan with brown mottling. A small percentage of plants produce pods with dark purple pigmentation. The majority of plants have green pods. All seeds are uniform and the plants display no other obvious differences. Pods are commonly born in pairs. Seeds have good flavor. Mild and earthy with a smooth texture. Pods 10-12 inches long. Donated to SSE by Robert Wood (KS WO R) who obtained this variety from SPB Sales of Nash, Texas (CV Spb). SSE Accession # 108873
