Turnip Rooted

Roots dark violet, narrow elliptic in shape. Flesh dark red with lighter red rings. Semi-smooth skin. Mostly buried in the soil. Root length ranges from 1.8-2.2", width 2.1-2.8", and weight 2.8-5.9oz. Dark green upright leaves, with purple petioles and veins. Leaves glabrous. BRIX 8.0. Sweet, juicy. Acquired by SSE from the Abundant Life Seed Foundation (CV Abu) in the 1980s. Abundant Life stated in their catalog description that this was a very old English variety. SSE Accession # 106250
