VEGETABLES / BEAN
SNAP-POLE
Pole bean best eaten at the snap stage. The pods are flat and slightly curved. Light green in color, they develop a strong string fairly quickly. The window to eat them is small, but if you get them before they develop the suture string, they have a nice flavor and texture, though they can be a bit dry. They get tough and fibrous pretty quickly, however. The pods are 6" long. The dry beans are medium ovals with a mottled buff/tan background and brown striping. It was moderately productive during the 2021 growout at Heritage Farm. Mid season maturing. Donated to SSE by John Coykendall (TN CO J) who acquired this variety from the late, Don King of Fentress County, Tennessee. SSE Accession # 104359
