S. aethiopicum. Green fruits elongate to obovoid in shape with greenish flesh. Plants produce numerous small fruits ( average 1 oz) per plant in clusters of 2. Fruits hang pendant at maturity and lack pedicel prickles. Upright green stems average 3' tall and lack spines. White flowers and large, highly lobed leaves. No lodging. Fruits turn red at seed maturity. Bitter with thick skin. Note: Due to a mechanical mix, S. melongena is present within this seed lot at a rate of up to 8%. These plants have purple pigment in the branches, petioles, and young leaves and produce purple-black fruits. Donated to SSE by Suzanne Ashworth.
