Kalman's Hungarian Tomato Pepper

Fruit flattened and highly ribbed, ripening from green to red. 2" long, 3" wide, 5oz. Moderately sweet, very good flavor with thick flesh, moderately crisp. Plants 1.5-2' tall, erect, vase-shaped, and tightly-branched. Low fruit set low. Susceptible to lodging. Given to SSE by Joe Cavanaugh (NJ CA J) who received the variety from Kalman Lajvort of Edison NJ in 1995. It's a Hungarian family heirloom which Kalman remembered his father growing when he was a child in Hungary. Kalman later brought seeds with him when he immigrated to the U.S. after the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. SSE Accession # 117345
