Pole lima. Slightly curved pods average 3.3" long by 0.8" wide. Large seeds with black mottling over a red background. Degree of mottling varies from slight to extensive. Fresh limas have a unique, slightly sweet flavor. Dry limas have a standard flavor with a slightly bitter aftertaste. 2-4 seeds per pod. Shattering dry pods. Donated to SSE by Ron Carrow who obtained the variety circa 1990 from Kay Young of Lincoln, NE. It was given to Kay's father, Julius Young, decades earlier by his cousin, Charles Young, who was visiting Nebraska from Idaho. Grown as an unnamed home variety by the Young family since at least 1945. SSE Accession # 112697
