VEGETABLES / BEAN
SNAP-BUSH
Snap bean of twining habit, but not a strong climber. Pods green to light yellow, mostly curved, round in cross-section, 3.5-5" long. Robust, sweet flavor and juicy, tender texture. Nearly stringless. Flowers white. Seeds small, oval, about 3/8 inch long, white. Medium productivity. Mid-season. 5-7 seeds per pod. Grown in 2021 by Sara Bangs for the Collection Documentation Project; based on her experience she believes the variety will do well in cool weather. This variety was donated to SSE by Jane Kurtti (MN KU J). Jane requested seeds via the SSE Yearbook from Lurland Profitt (WV PR L) who said it is an hierloom from Washington. Lurland Profitt likely received the seeds from Mary Towne of Olympia, WA who offered a bean in the SSE Exchange in late 1970s which had been in her family since 1858. SSE Accession # 103379
