Black Butterbean

Pole lima. Vigorous, produces variable dark purple/black and blotched tan beans. Pods shatter when dry and produce 3-4 beans per pod. Flavor is average, musty and earthy. Donated to SSE in 1981 by John Withee of the Wanigan Associates. Withee acquired this variety from Samuel Cutrer of Louisiana in the late 1970s. SSE Accession # 112573
