Red tomato. Main phenotype is cylindrical to heart shaped with a pointed or nipple blossom end. In 2010 growout, an oblate, flat bottomed type with more desiccated leaves was observed. Original donor John Swenson states that this is a "polymorphic" variety with a shape "ranging from a carrot to a boxing glove." Main phenotype averages 4.5" long, 2.5" wide, 0.5 lb. Moderate radial cracking. Standard flavor, meaty texture, low acid, low sweetness. Late maturing. Indeterminate; regular leaves; inserted flower stigma. Given to SSE by John Swenson (IL SW J) who obtained it in 1990 from Ann Salomon of Tweefontein Herb Farm in New Paltz, NY. Salomon received the seeds from an Italian gentleman who described it as an old Italian tomato. It's been shared with several market growers since.
