Plants grow 2.5-3.5" tall. Green, curved pods remained constricted at maturity. Snow pea type, though pods are somewhat fibrous even when flat. Shelling peas starchy and bitter. Purple flowers and stipule ring. Two basal branches per plant. Mature pods measure 2-3" long by 0.5-0.65" wide. 3-8 seeds per pod; commonly 6 or 7. Non-shattering dry pods. Thin walled, delicate dry pods. Grey, dented, medium-sized seeds with light purple speckles. A few seeds are solid purple. Dry peas have a smoky, rich, musty flavor and a firm but smooth texture. Mid-season maturing. Average productivity when grown in 2013 at Heritage Farm. Donated to SSE by Kenneth Niehause (MO NI K) who obtained it in 2000 from Clyde Conaway (VA CO C).
