DRY-BUSH
Bush bean. Good flavor as both snap and dry. Immature green pods mature to light yellow with bright pink stripe pattern. Downy straight pods with weak suture string. Fully expanded pods measure 3.3-4.3" long and 0.6-0.7" wide. Very bushy plants; many leaves. Five seeds per pod. Large; maroon; oval cranberry type seeds. Pink flowers. Moderate productivity. Mid season dry pod maturity. Donated to SSE in 1981 by bean collector John Withee of Lynnfield, Massachusetts and the Wanigan Associates. John received this variety from Silas Gilliam of Virginia. Silas provided his seed source as Aaron Kennedy, also of Virginia. Silas had grown this variety since the mid-1970s including that this variety was grown throughout that region.
