Reticulated melon. Small, round, lightly corked fruit turns yellow at maturity. Thick, pale orange flesh with a thin rind. Very good flavor. Complex, fruity, and sweet. Firm, juicy flesh with a smooth texture. Fruit abscises from vine when ripe. Fruit measures 3-4" long by 2.5-4" wide and weigh 0.5-1.5lbs. Flesh 0.5-0.9" thick with a small seed cavity. Plants were infected with anthracnose in 2014 growout at Heritage Farm. Moderate yielding. Early maturing. Acquired by SSE from the late Curtis Showell (MD SH C). This variety was originally bred by the University of Minnesota at St. Paul in 1948 and introduced by Farmer Seed and Nursery Company. SSE Accession # 112901
