Winterkefe

This is a medium tall snow pea with good uniformity and fair productivity. The plants measure 3.5-4 ft tall. The pods measure 2.5-3.5" long and 0.7" wide. The flowers are pigmented and the plants have 2 green pods per peduncle. Pods contain 5-6 peas per pod. This is a winter pea, meant to be sown in the fall and overwintered. It produces edible podded peas in early spring. During the 2021 growout at Heritage Farm, this variety was planted in the spring as was mid season maturing. The pods were very astringent and fibrous, and lacking sweetness. SSE Accession # 115122
