VEGETABLES / LIMA-BEAN
POLE
110/dry days, 100+ dry days. Old Tennessee heirloom. Plants are very productive and a vigorous climber similar to Florida Speckled. Pods are flattened 4.25 x 3/4", containing about 3 seeds most of the time. Seeds are medium in size with 3 colors. White near an upper quarter near the eye. The remaining three quarters are red speckled with a blue-purple. I had grown this bean as far back as the early 80's. Received it from an early SSE member by the name of E.P. Griggs who had sent me the bean but didn't know it's name. After seeing pictures in National Geographics magazine of the planet Jupiter and it's moon system. I named the bean after the Jovian moon Ganymede. After all these years the name seems to have stuck. Source: TN CO J '12, SSE Bean 1128
