Nantes type. Thick, cylindrical orange carrot with a blunt tip and rounded shoulders. Many roots are slightly curved. Mostly smooth skin; some carrots have a few ridges. Uniformly orange core. No splitting, little branching in 2016 planting at Heritage Farm. Roots 5-7" long at market maturity. Good flavor, moderately sweet and juicy, crisp. Sparse leaves. Reputedly resistant to asters yellow. Donated to SSE by Will Bonsall (ME BO W). A variety by this name dates to at least 1982 when it was mentioned in a carrot trial report by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany (NIAB) in Cambridge, England. SSE Accession # 106904
