SNAP-POLE
Pole/snap bean. Excellent flavor as a snap bean. Sweet, slightly tannic, juicy, and crisp. Immature pods green with purple blush. Mature pods yellow with purple blush. Pods are curved, round in cross-section and have an upward curving beak. Mature pods 5-7" long and less than 0.5" wide. 8-10 seeds per pod. Seeds black. Dry pods are fleshy and strongly contracted around seeds. Leaves dark green with purple veining. Stems have extensive purple coloring. Flowers pink to dark purple. Plants were vigorous climbers with intermediate productivity and mid-season maturity to snap bean stage when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. From Charlie Baker (MS BA C) who introduced this variety into the 1996 SSE Yearbook Exchange. Baker stated this variety is an heirloom from the Alston family of Wayne County, Mississippi.
