Cucurbita Foetidissima

5-8 months. Perennial. 3–4 in fruit. Also called buffalo gourd, calabazilla, chilicote, coyote gourd, fetid gourd, fetid wild pumpkin, Missouri gourd, prairie gourd, stinking gourd, wild gourd, and wild pumpkin. Requires little water, well drained soil, long warm growing season. Taproot can reach fresh weight of 100 pounds and over 8 feet long. Very difficult to grow to maturity in my amended red clay soil and 2750' elevation in northern California--it really wants a desert-type environment.
