Moderate radial cracking. Yellow flesh. Fruit measure 2.5-3" long, 4-5" wide, and weigh 1-1.5lbs. Clusters of 2 or 3 fruit. Brix score: 4.8. Indeterminate. Regular leaves. Moderately productive when grown in 2015 at Heritage Farm. Mid-season maturing. Acquired by SSE from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange in 1989. CV So1 first listed it in their catalogs under the name “Mortgage Lifter, Yellow” from 1984-1985. In 1986, they determined that it was actually a strain of Golden Ponderosa that had been propagated and traded by employees of the C & O Railroad in West Virginia prior to 1940 and listed it under the name “Golden Ponderosa-Railroad strain.” CV So1 further selected and refined the variety and in 1994 sold it under the name “Golden Ponderosa, C & O (S.E.S.E. Select strain)”. SSE Accession # 122099
