Bronze Arrow

Very attractive, red-green, oakleaf lettuce. Excellent flavor. Winner of 2016 lettuce taste evaluation. Tender, earthy, and sweet. Leaves are highly lobed with dark purple pigmentation, especially towards the tips. Plants are large, reaching 5-7" tall and 14-17" in diameter. Resists bolting in the heat. Black seed. Acquired by SSE from Bountiful Gardens (CV Bou), who offered it in their catalogs from 1989-2011. This variety appears to be the same as “Bronze Arrowhead," which is sold in SSE's catalog. The variety was introduced by Germain’s Seed under the name “Bronze Beauty,” and won the bronze medal at the 1947 All America Selections. SSE Accession # 111631
