VEGETABLES / BEAN
DRY-BUSH
Dry bean. 90/dry days. Then pods dry sequentially. Blossom light pink. Pods 5-1/4 x 3/8". Upright 20" tall plants without runners. I have used this variety to make a very good baked bean. Stewed beans after cooking them soft have much more body than a Jacob's Cattle. Firmer meatier texture. Seed is strikingly beautiful in 3 colors of red, white, and pinkish buff. Patterned similar to Jacob's Cattle with an extensive red area around the eye mottled with the pinkish buff. Discovered in my garden and named by me in 1981. I discovered the seed of this bean among Ernie's Big Eye which is one of Ernest B. Dana's original varieties. A big thanks also to Will Bonsall and Donalene Rogers for keeping this beautiful bean alive for so many years. Another big thank you to Will Bonsall for donating and turning into SSE a bunch of my original bean discoveries. ME BO W 12, and CA RO D2, O.S. IL CR R 82
