VEGETABLES / PEPPER
HOT
Capsicum chinense. A hot pepper. Fruits bulb-shaped, upright, about 1.5" long, thin-skinned, changing from cream-colored to purple to orange and then red as they mature. Plants compact, 1-2' tall depending on soil, prolific, producing over a long season. Grown by Carolina Schottland in 2021 for the Collection Documentation Project; she described the flavor as "intensely fruity" and "very hot" and noted that the compact, ornamental plants would "make great patio or container peppers." She rated the variety "excellent" overall. SSE Accession # 117527
