HEAD
Large, yellow-green butterhead. Central leaves are tightly compacted, but do not overlap, and form a well-developed head. Leaves are moderately undulating and highly blistered. Uniform plants. Good eating qualities. Crisp, tender leaves with a hint of bitterness to inner leaves. Slightly sweet and buttery texture. Leaves measure 6-8" long by 7-9" wide at market maturity. Black seeded. Plants reach 6-7" tall by 12-15" wide. Mid-season maturing. Acquired by SSE from Peter Hatch (VA HA P), who obtained the variety from the USDA in 1987. SSE Accession # 111683
