VEGETABLES / BEAN
SNAP-POLE
Pole, snap bean. Green beans have excellent flavor and crunchy, slightly tough texture. Pods develop a strong suture string. Pods are green, round, curved, greasy, and measure 4.5-5.5" long. Pods develop a light pink blush at maturity. White flowers. 6-9 seeds/pod. Seeds white, long oval, small-sized. Very long season. Strong climber. Average productivity when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. Donated to SSE in 1992 by Ken Dobson of Camp Lejeune, NC. This variety was grown by Dobson's family and friends near Waleska, Georgia (northern Cherokee County) for over 100 years (since at least the 1890s). Because of it's tender hull, Dobson's aunt favored this bean for canning and typically put up over 200 quarts each year. SSE Accession # 103796
