VEGETABLES / BEAN
DRY-POLE
Note: SSE has confirmed that this is a common bean and not a cowpea as it was sometimes listed in the past. A purple-flowered, half-runner, black bean. Vines average around five feet. Some vines have a purple blush to the leaves and produce pods that are dark purple. They do well in cool temperatures but do not set many new pods during hot spells. Pods shell easily at maturity but are too tough to easily eat at any stage except for the very smallest. Average to slightly above average productivity here depending on the year. Excellent flavor and smooth texture. Our favorite for burritos! SSE Accession #109022. 2020 seed.
