Buena Mulata

Cayenne type pepper. Produces abundant flowers of white to shades of lavender. Fruit are very showy starting pale green, turning bright purple then shifting to orange, to brown and finally to a deep crimson red. Fruits grow to about 4 to 7 inches long by about 1/3 of an inch wide. Flavor varies depending on color at time of harvest from vegetal when green & purple to smoky, sweet goodness when fully ripe. These are hot peppers. The plants can grow tall and spindly without pruning. The leaves are thin and smallish but the plant produces surprisingly well even under less than ideal conditions. Even during a drought year, this pepper just kept pumping them out with minimal watering. This makes a fine houseplant, continuing to produce peppers while potted.
