An exceptionally large, irregular-shaped baking apple that is also often used for the sharp ingredient in American style cider. Green-yellow skin with blushes and broken stripes of dull red. Starts to produce fruit at over six years and tends biennial bearing. Exceptionally cold hardy. Fruit ripens September-October in Zone 4. DNA tested in 2024 and confirmed correct. An Alexander x Westfield Seek-No-Further cross. The original tree of this apple variety grew on the shores of the Wolf River in Fremont, Wisconsin, from seeds planted by William Springer in the 1860s. SSE Accession # 134024
