King Tut

Plants average 3-4' in height. Pigmented flowers and purple or purple-green pods. Straight pods remain flat as they mature. Enlarged stipules with a pigmented stipule ring. Large, mature pods average 3" long by 0.65" wide. Shattering dry pods. Pods commonly contain 5-6 seeds. Wrinkled seeds are grey with a brown hilum. Yellow cotyledons. Flat pods are edible when very young but quickly become unpalatable. Excellent, rich flavor as a soup pea with a meaty, smooth texture. SSE Accession # 114848
