Medium to large apples have pale-yellow skin with a red blush and thin stripes. Flesh is white, crisp, and fine-grained, and has tartness that mellows over time. Trees are vigorous and upright spreading. Ripens mid-season. Phenotyped and confirmed correct. Named in the late 1700s by Samuel Allison of the Burlington, New Jersey area. ‘Maiden Blush’ rose to commercial success in the Philadelphia market before spreading in popularity across the Southern United States.
