Violet, Wood

Single Image
FLOWERS / PANSY
perennial, tiny plants with cordate leaves possessing a parallel venation, flowers resemble small pansies, purple or white, blooms in late March, secondary blooming occurs in October and November, plants can cover shady areas as they often do in the Ozarks, leaves are edible in winter and spring, though they eventually become too mucilaginous to eat, the Violas, interestingly enough, are part of the order {iViolales} which includes cucurbits, a family seemingly dissimilar to the Violet family, but the taxonomic affinity between them is shown by one key characteristic which is the shape of the leaves, notice the similarity between violet and melon leaf shape; Roots will be sent in winter or early spring
