Colony Pole

Pole/snap. Moderately sweet and tender snap beans. Climbing plants have white flowers. Flat, green pods are slightly curved. Fully expanded pods measure 5.0-5.4" long and 0.5-0.6" wide. Mature pods are solid light yellow-green. 7 seeds per pod. Medium sized, oblong, white seeds. Moderately productive when grown on Heritage Farm in 2018. Snaps late July. Donated to SSE by Charles Hoehnle (IA HO C). This variety was grown in the communal kitchen gardens of the Amana Colonies of eastern Iowa; originally brought to the U.S. from Germany in the 1840s.
