Oran's Melon

This variety of melon was stewarded by the Oran Ball family of Golden, Missouri for over 50 years (SSE estimates since at least the 1930s). SSE member Skip Doak (MO DO S) acquired the variety in 1985 from Charles Curry. Curry's wife was Oran's niece and they lived near Eagle Rock, also in southwest Missouri (the Ozarks). Skip Doak later introduced the melon in to the SSE Yearbook Exchange in 1996. This accession was given to SSE circa 2003 by the late Robert Lobitz (MN LO R). Lobitz acquired the variety from the Abundant Life Seed Foundation, which had obtained it from the Exchange. SSE Accession # 113373
