Winfrey Family Permelon

Very large, pear-shaped, hubbard type squash. Slate blue, lumpy rind is extremely tough and hard to cut into. Medium orange flesh is about 4" thick. Flesh lacks flavor and sweetness, but is moist and smooth. Fruit measure 9-11 inches long, 10-15 inches wide, and weigh 20-30 pounds. Brix reading in 2017 at Heritage Farm was 7.5%. Dry matter content was 9.6%. Highly vining plants are moderately productive. SSE Accession # 131759
