VEGETABLES / PEA
SHELLING
Shelling pea. 5-10 sweet peas per pod. Long, slightly curved, green pods, up to 4" long. White flowers. Plants grow ~3' tall with little or no basal branching. Shattering dry pods. Wrinkled yellow and green seeds. Mid-season maturing and highly productive when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. Shelling peas well-liked by Seed Savers staff and described as sweet, but lacks a robustness. SSE received this variety from Beverly Eddy of Marysville, Washington in 2012. Beverly has been growing and saving seed for this variety since 1972, when she received it from her friend and, later, neighbor, Arthur VanMeter. Arthur told Beverly that he received seeds for the variety from his father, Frank VanMeter. Frank grew it for an unknown number of years before he passed away in 1956. SSE Accession # 131760
