Erik's German White

Erik Sessions of Patchwork Green Farm near Decorah, Iowa, shared this variety of garlic with SSE in 2017. Erik first grew it in 1997 when he interned at Spring Hill Community Farm near Prairie Farm, Wisconsin. The variety was originally from Johnny's Selected Seeds. Erik has grown it himself since 1998. When planting, Erik selects for good size and uniformity of cloves. His goal has always been to increase the number of cloves per head, and considers it a good year when most have 5-6 cloves. Erik and his wife Sara use this garlic raw in hummus, roasted for soups and mashed potatoes, and sauteed in just about everything. Requests may be made for this variety starting September 21, 2026 at 9 a.m. CT for shipment around mid-October.
